Forks
A 10% wear on your forks will decrease the capacity of a forklift by 20%, resulting in a maintenance cost for replacement forks. The main culprit of wear is dragging the forks on your warehouse floor.
Follow these tips to keep your operators and product safe:
- Keep forks off the ground to prevent dragging
- Replace forks that are bent or uneven
- Never weld forks, which can affect the temper of the metal
- Avoid pushing loads using the tips of the forks
With a fork caliper, you can easily measure the thickness of your forks. ANSI standards require that forks be inspected at least once a year in single-shift operations. Click here to view how to inspect your forks or order your fork inspection kit.
